Experts from the Ministry of Land, Asset Management Firms, and Academia Gather
Discussing Strategies to Boost Project REITs and Listed REITs
An expert seminar will be held to assess the current status of the REITs (Real Estate Investment Trusts) market, which has emerged as a key sector in the real estate industry, and to discuss ways to boost investment and improve the system.
The Seoul Real Estate Forum, a non-profit organization, will host its 22nd anniversary seminar on November 6 at Eulji Twin Tower in Jung-gu, Seoul. The theme of this seminar is "Korea REITs, What Is the Solution? : Introduction of Project REITs and Measures to Promote Investment in Listed REITs." The event will bring together domestic real estate and financial experts to examine the future of the REITs market and propose policy alternatives. Participation is free of charge.
Following the opening remarks by Song Jongheon, President of the Seoul Real Estate Forum (and CEO of GRE Partners Asset Management), congratulatory speeches will be delivered by Sohn Myungsoo, a member of the National Assembly's Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee from the Democratic Party, and Kim Seungbae, President of the Korea Association of Real Estate Development. Jeong Byungyun, President of the Korea REITs Association, will deliver the keynote speech on "The Current Status and Development Plans for Korea's REITs Industry."
The main presentations will be divided into two sessions. In the first session, Kim Junghan, Senior Expert at Shin & Kim LLC, will speak on "Challenges and Tasks of Project REITs." In the second session, Noh Seunghan, Professor at Konkuk University, will present on "Measures to Promote Investment in Listed REITs."
Discussion Session 1 will feature case studies on listed REITs and suggestions for revitalization. Min Seonghun, Professor at Suwon University, will moderate, and panelists will include Kang Heeseon, Director at IGIS Asset Management, Kim Byungjik, Executive Director at Shinhan Alpha REITs, and Baek Minju, Head of SK REITs, who will discuss practical issues and improvement measures from the field.
Discussion Session 2 will focus on "Measures to Improve the REITs System and Regulations," with in-depth discussions. Participants will include Lee Hyunseok, Professor at Konkuk University, Kim Seungbeom, Director of the Investment System Division at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and Lee Junhyuk, Attorney at Jipyong LLC, who will present directions for institutional improvement.

The Seoul Real Estate Forum was launched in November 2003 as an industry-academic convergence forum, bringing together key figures from Korea's real estate sector (investment, finance, development, asset management, design, construction, appraisal, etc.) and leading professors from university real estate departments nationwide.
