[Weather] Rain Expected in Many Areas Nationwide on Second Day of Holiday... Cloudy Skies Likely Through Chuseok

On October 4, the second day of the Chuseok holiday, most regions across the country will be mostly cloudy, with occasional rain expected in most areas except for the Seoul metropolitan area, inland Gangwon, and Jeju Island. However, the amount of rainfall is not expected to be significant.


According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, the expected precipitation for the day is less than 5 millimeters in eastern Gangwon and North Chungcheong, around 5 millimeters in the Jeolla region and South Chungcheong, and 5 to 10 millimeters in the Gyeongsang region. Rainfall of around 5 millimeters is expected to continue nationwide until October 5. The forecasted daytime high temperatures across the country range from 23 to 28 degrees Celsius. On October 5, morning lows are expected to be between 17 and 22 degrees Celsius, with daytime highs between 23 and 28 degrees Celsius. For the time being, temperaturesare expected to be similar to or slightly higher than the seasonal average.


In the far southern East Sea, strong winds of 30 to 60 kilometers per hour (8 to 16 meters per second) and very high waves of 1.0 to 3.5 meters are expected until the afternoon of October 4, so vessels engaged in navigation and fishing operations should exercise caution.


The Korea Meteorological Administration forecasts that until Chuseok day, which falls on October 6, most areas nationwide will remain mostly cloudy with rain in some places. In some parts of the southern regions and Jeju Island, it may be possible to see the full moon through breaks in the clouds. However, in the central regions, it will be difficult to see the full moon due to heavy cloud cover.


On Chuseok day, October 6, the major cities' moonrise times are as follows: Seoul at 5:32 p.m., Incheon at 5:33 p.m., Gangneung at 5:24 p.m., Daejeon at 5:30 p.m., Daegu at 5:26 p.m., Busan at 5:24 p.m., Gwangju at 5:33 p.m., and Jeju at 5:35 p.m.
