On October 3, President Lee Jaemyung paid tribute to the death of a Ministry of the Interior and Safety official responsible for the national computer network outage, stating, "I express my deepest condolences and sympathy together with the people."
On his social networking service (SNS) account that day, President Lee said, "I pray for the repose of the deceased, who devoted himself to the people until his final moments in order to fulfill his duty as a public servant."
President Lee said, "The deceased worked tirelessly, day and night, out of a profound sense of responsibility to quickly resolve public inconvenience and restore the normal functioning of the state. We will never forget his dedication and sacrifice behind the scenes as the nation overcame this crisis and daily life was restored."
He added, "I offer my deepest condolences to the bereaved family and colleagues at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and pray for the deceased's peace and eternal rest."
