Gwangju City Successfully Hosts the 29th Senior Citizens Day Commemoration Event
On October 2, Gwangju City in Gyeonggi Province, together with the Gwangju City branch of the Korea Senior Citizens Association, held the '29th Senior Citizens Day Commemoration Event' at the main auditorium of the Gwangju Senior Welfare Center.

Senior Citizens Day is a legally designated commemorative day established to promote respect for the elderly and filial piety, and to honor the contributions of seniors who have preserved and developed traditional culture. This year marks the 29th anniversary of the event.
Approximately 1,000 local seniors attended the event. Commendations were awarded to 26 individuals who contributed to the advancement of senior welfare and the development of the local community.
Prior to the ceremony, a Nanta performance by children from Gwangju Daycare Center and a fusion flute performance by flutist Seo Gabi added a lively atmosphere that brought together different generations.
Lim Kangbin, head of the Gwangju City branch of the Korea Senior Citizens Association, stated, "The achievements and dedication of the senior generation are invaluable assets to our society. We will continue to strive to create a society where generations coexist in respect and harmony, based on the spirit of honoring and caring for the elderly."
Mayor Bang Sehwan remarked, "This Senior Citizens Day event was an opportunity to express our gratitude for the hard work of our seniors and to support their happy and vibrant later years. We will continue to provide diverse support to promote a culture of intergenerational harmony and respect."
