Transforming the Community Through Design... Silla University Hosts Youth Week Exhibition Linked to the RISE Project

"Sasang, Youth, Design - Perspectives That Change the Community"

The Department of Visual Design at Silla University (President: Heo Namsik) has concluded the "2025 Sasang-gu Youth Week Exhibition," an event aimed at transforming the local community through design.

In September, Sasang-gu held the "2025 Sasang-gu Youth Week" event for a month. The Department of Visual Design at Silla University organized a student exhibition themed "Sasang, Youth Design - Perspectives That Change the Community" as part of the RISE project’s urban regeneration and regional development program, in conjunction with the Sasang-gu Youth Week event.

This exhibition served as a platform to showcase the future vision and capabilities of the new Department of Game Content Design, which will be launched next year. The creative works of the Visual Design students captivated visitors’ attention.

The exhibition featured outstanding works by graduates from the 2023 to 2025 academic years and this year’s prospective graduates, as well as illustration pieces by second-year students and award-winning entries from the "2024 39th International Design & Illustration Competition." All works were produced under the guidance of Professor Kim Mikyung of the Department of Visual Design at Silla University, demonstrating exceptional quality and distinctiveness.

More than just a presentation of works, the event became a venue for communication between the local community and art and design education, with youth taking the lead in organizing the exhibition themselves.

Professor Kim Mikyung emphasized, "Support from the RISE project played a decisive role in making this exhibition possible, and this event has become a practical driving force for the launch of the Department of Game Content Design next year and the transition to digital content-focused education."

Hwang Inju, head of the RISE project group at Silla University, commented, "This exhibition is a meaningful example that goes beyond a simple graduation showcase, connecting the creative capabilities of young people with the local community and artistically presenting the possibilities of urban regeneration and regional development."

Hwang added, "Going forward, the RISE project group will continue to actively support youth in becoming key agents of local change through a variety of civic education programs."

Silla University plans to continue operating a range of student-tailored programs to support students’ creative growth and foster core talent to lead the future content industry.

Additionally, in the 2026 academic year, the Department of Visual Design will be reorganized into the Department of Game Content Design, with plans to nurture practical talent in both game graphic design and digital media art.
