Gyeongnam Information College Hospital Medical Administration Graduate Passes National Loss Adjuster Certification

Producing Consecutive National Certification Passers for Two Years
Demonstrating Educational Excellence and Enhancing Competitiveness with High Employment Rates

Gyeongnam Information College, known as "the leading community college representing Busan," announced on October 2 that a graduate of the advanced major program in the Department of Hospital Medical Administration recently passed the national professional certification exam for loss adjusters.

Loss adjusters are specialists who investigate the extent of damages in the event of an accident and assess the appropriateness of insurance payouts. This is a national professional qualification administered by the Financial Supervisory Service.

Loss adjusters can work at insurance companies or loss adjusting firms. The role requires expertise in law, insurance, and medicine, making the exam particularly challenging. In fact, the pass rate for the second stage of the 48th exam in the bodily injury category was only 13.2%.

The Department of Hospital Medical Administration has demonstrated the effectiveness of its field-oriented education by producing successful candidates in the advanced major program for two consecutive years, following last year’s achievement.

Lee Hyunseok, who graduated in 2024 and passed the exam this year, said, "The courses I took during my studies, such as medical terminology, disease classification, insurance business law, insurance contract law, and practical work in loss adjustment, were extremely helpful. My experience working in the administrative department of a general hospital, combined with my education at school, enabled me to succeed in this new challenge."

Kim Minho, head of the Department of Hospital Medical Administration, stated, "Our curriculum, which is specialized for the loss adjuster exam, our faculty with extensive practical experience, and the ongoing exchanges with alumni active in the industry are consistently producing results. Moving forward, we will continue to support both adult learners and students of school age in developing their expertise through a distinctive curriculum that integrates hospital administration, health education, and loss adjustment."

The Department of Hospital Medical Administration at Gyeongnam Information College is the first in the country to implement customized job-guaranteed training for both Western and Korean traditional hospital administration. The advanced major program also allows students to earn a four-year degree. In addition, the department supports the acquisition of various certifications, including hospital administrator, insurance claims reviewer, hospital coordinator, health educator, international medical tourism coordinator, and loss adjuster. A weekend program for adult learners is also offered, and the department records a high employment rate of nearly 90% every year.
