1,416 Hospitals and Clinics, 981 Pharmacies to Remain Open During the Holiday
Daejeon City will operate an emergency medical situation room and maintain a 24-hour emergency room response system during the extended Chuseok holiday to prevent any gaps in medical services.
In particular, the city will run the emergency medical situation room for seven days, from October 3 to October 9.
This year's Chuseok holiday spans a total of seven days, including substitute holidays. Given that the public health disaster alert is currently at the "serious" level, the city will monitor the normal operation of nine local emergency medical institutions on a daily basis and will implement immediate measures in the event of any unusual circumstances, ensuring a swift response system.
To prevent overcrowding in emergency rooms, the city has designated 1,416 hospitals and clinics and 981 pharmacies to remain open during the holiday. These institutions will provide care for patients with mild symptoms, minimizing inconvenience for citizens.
The emergency medical situation room will be organized into six teams, operated by the city and its five districts, and will maintain cooperation with emergency medical institutions throughout the holiday. It will also monitor the operation status of open hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies. The situation room will handle tasks such as preventing gaps in emergency patient care and processing complaints related to medical accidents.
Information on medical institutions and pharmacies open during the holiday can be found on the websites of Daejeon City and its districts, the Emergency Medical Portal, the "Emergency Medical Information Provider" and "Emergency Smart" applications, the Daejeon City 120 Call Center, and the 129 Health and Welfare Counseling Center.
Tae Junup, Director of Sports and Health at Daejeon City, said, "As this year's Chuseok holiday is longer than usual, we will do our utmost to ensure there are no gaps in emergency medical care so that citizens can enjoy a safe and peaceful holiday."
