According to police and National Assembly officials on October 1, a janitor cleaning the men's restroom on the second floor of the National Assembly Members’ Office Building in Yeouido, Seoul, discovered several weapons, including brass knuckles, earlier that morning. The National Assembly immediately notified the police, and the Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul received a formal request for investigation in the afternoon and began a preliminary inquiry.

The police are inspecting the scene to determine the types and origins of the weapons found, as well as the circumstances under which they were left in the restroom. They are also working with the National Assembly security authorities to review closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and take other related measures.
