Actor Kim Jooyoung, known for his powerful performances in historical dramas such as "Tears of the Dragon" and "Jeong Dojeon," has passed away at the age of 73.


On October 1, Kim's family told Yonhap News Agency, "He contracted pulmonary tuberculosis when he was young, and with his lungs weakened, he developed pneumonia and passed away on September 30."


Kim Jooyoung graduated from Chung-Ang University with a degree in Theater and Film, and began his acting career in 1974 as part of the sixth cohort of MBC's open recruitment for actors. He later joined the fifteenth cohort of Tongyang Broadcasting Company (TBC) through open recruitment.


He made a strong impression on viewers in "Chief Inspector," and went on to deliver memorable performances in numerous epic historical dramas.


He appeared in the "500 Years of the Joseon Dynasty" series, as well as "Tears of the Dragon," "The King and the Queen," "Taejo Wang Geon," "Empress Myeongseong," "Age of Warriors," "Emperor of the Sea," "Empress Cheonchu," and "Jeong Dojeon."

The funeral will be held on October 2, and the burial site is Incheon Family Park.
