Sunchang County Opens 'Ssangchi Park Golf Course' at Geumjeong Sports Park

1.843 Billion KRW Invested
18-Hole Facility Opens

On October 1, Sunchang County in North Jeolla Province opened the 18-hole Ssangchi Park Golf Course at Geumjeong Sports Park.


According to the county, a total project cost of 1.843 billion KRW was invested in the construction of this new park golf course. The facility is equipped with a management office, a screen golf area, and an indoor practice range, providing systematic amenities that are expected to offer a high level of convenience to local residents.

In particular, this facility is anticipated to become more than just a sports venue, serving as a valuable space for intergenerational communication and harmony, and bringing positive energy to the local community.


Approximately 450 people attended the opening ceremony, including County Governor Choi Youngil, County Council Chairperson Son Jongseok and other council members, officials from Ssangchi-myeon institutions and social organizations, as well as members of the Park Golf Association.


The event proceeded with an opening and introduction of guests, a national ceremony, a progress report, commemorative and congratulatory speeches, and concluded with a ribbon-cutting, commemorative tree planting, and group photo session.


Following the opening ceremony, the 1st Sunchang County Governor’s Cup Park Golf Tournament was held to celebrate the new park golf course. The tournament featured 28 teams and around 350 park golf enthusiasts, turning the event into a festival where participants engaged in spirited competition and showcased their skills.


County Governor Choi Youngil stated, “It is very meaningful to see the results of our efforts to expand advanced sports facilities aimed at improving residents’ health and providing quality leisure activities,” and added, “I hope this place will become a complex cultural space where people of all ages can interact and communicate in the future.”
