2025 University Alimi Data Disclosure
Research Funding Per Full-Time Faculty Member Reaches 176 Million Won
National Pukyong University (President Bae Sanghoon) ranked first among all national universities in Korea this year in research funding per full-time faculty member.
According to the August 2025 information disclosure by University Alimi (based on 2024 data), National Pukyong University led the 25 national universities nationwide-excluding universities of education, sports universities, and the Korea National Open University-with research funding per full-time faculty member amounting to 176.78 million won.
Research funding per full-time faculty member is calculated by dividing the total internal and external research funding, along with matching funds, by the number of full-time faculty members at each university. For 2024, National Pukyong University secured a total of 111.37321 billion won in internal and external research funding and matching funds, with 630 full-time faculty members.
Including private universities, National Pukyong University ranked first in the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam region and seventh nationwide for research funding per full-time faculty member. A high level of research funding per full-time faculty member indicates that the university achieves greater results relative to its size. This demonstrates that the university has an outstanding faculty and possesses strong research capabilities and competitiveness.
National Pukyong University has seen its research funding per full-time faculty member increase for three consecutive years. Internal and external research funding rose by 9.1%, from 100.3 billion won last year to 109.4 billion won this year, while matching funds increased significantly from 1.2 billion won last year to 1.9 billion won this year.
As a research-oriented university representing the region, National Pukyong University is actively engaged in various research support activities, including the RISE Project and the Moonshot Project.
President Bae Sanghoon stated, "Research funding is a key indicator of a university's research capabilities and an essential requirement for outstanding research. Moving forward, we will further expand our research infrastructure by strengthening exchanges and collaborative systems among researchers and by responding flexibly to the changing research environment."
