Daejeon Technopark: CPR Within the "Golden Four Minutes" Raises Survival Rate by 2 to 4 Times

Recognizing that the "golden four minutes" in cases of cardiac arrest can increase survival rates by two to four times, employees of Daejeon Technopark have taken steps to strengthen their safety capabilities by learning emergency response techniques to protect citizens' lives during this critical window.

On September 29, Daejeon Technopark conducted emergency response and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training for its employees in the afternoon.

This training was organized to enhance awareness of the importance of human life and to strengthen rescue capabilities within the golden time. It also aimed to reinforce the local community's safety net ahead of the long Chuseok holiday.

The training focused on Basic Life Support (BLS), including adult and infant CPR, the use of automated external defibrillators (AED), and emergency procedures for airway obstruction. Under the guidance of a professional instructor, employees practiced chest compressions and AED operation, thereby improving their practical response skills.

During the training, the importance of the "golden four minutes," which determines the survival of cardiac arrest patients, was especially emphasized. The instructor explained that when cardiac arrest occurs outside a hospital-at home, at work, or on the street-if the first witness performs CPR within four minutes, the survival rate can increase by two to four times.

Daejeon Technopark expects that, by focusing on equipping employees with practical emergency response skills not only for disasters and accidents but also for sudden cardiac arrest situations in daily life, this training will contribute to securing the golden time to save citizens' lives and to spreading a culture of safety.

Kim Wooyeon, President of Daejeon Technopark, stated, "Actions taken during the golden time in unpredictable emergencies can be the decisive factor that saves a life. We will continue to review and expand various measures to further enhance our employees' safety capabilities so that the skills they have learned can be put into practice in daily life for the benefit of citizens."
