On October 1, the city of Siheung in Gyeonggi Province announced that it has established and will implement a comprehensive plan for the Chuseok holiday to ensure that citizens can spend the holiday safely and without inconvenience.
To this end, the city will operate a "Chuseok Holiday Comprehensive Situation Room" for seven days from October 3 to October 9. The situation room will be organized into 11 teams: Administration, Price Control, Fuel Supply, Grave Visit Management, Sanitation, Environmental Monitoring, Cleaning, Water Supply, Transportation, Healthcare, and Livestock Infectious Disease Control. A total of 99 personnel will be deployed.
In addition, to respond quickly to disasters and accidents, a 24-hour disaster situation room will be in operation during this period. The city will also work to stabilize distribution by managing the supply of essential goods and inspecting unfair trade practices. To ensure a stable fuel supply, the city will provide information on nearby gas and oil vendors and prepare countermeasures for related complaints that may arise during the holiday.
To minimize gaps in household waste collection, the city will conduct intensive pre-holiday collection and street cleaning for three days from October 5 to 7, and resume normal collection from October 8.
This year, with the extended holiday, a large number of people are expected to visit ancestral graves. The city will actively encourage early and dispersed grave visits at Jeongwang Public Cemetery and operate traffic guidance and a rapid response system for civil complaints on the day of the holiday.
To protect public health, the city will designate and operate 24-hour emergency medical institutions and on-duty pharmacies during the holiday to minimize any gaps in medical services.
For vulnerable groups who may be marginalized during the holiday, the city will provide food packages for low-income households and carry out visits and sharing events at social welfare facilities.
A city official stated, "We will focus our administrative efforts on implementing thorough measures that prioritize public welfare and citizen safety, so that everyone can enjoy a warm and comfortable Chuseok holiday."
