On the 30th (local time), in response to a question from domestic media about whether President Trump would be open to talks with Kim Jong Un even without mentioning North Korea's nuclear issue, the White House stated, "President Trump remains open to meeting with Chairman Kim without any preconditions." The White House also noted, "During his first term, President Trump held three historic summits with Chairman Kim and helped stabilize the Korean Peninsula."

The White House further stated, "The United States' policy toward North Korea remains unchanged," indicating that the U.S. government's longstanding principle of seeking the complete denuclearization of North Korea is still in place.

However, the fact that the term "denuclearization" was not directly mentioned in this statement appears to be a move aimed at creating a favorable atmosphere for the resumption of U.S.-North Korea dialogue.

Previously, on the 21st, during the Supreme People's Assembly, Chairman Kim also said, "Personally, I have fond memories of President Trump," and added, "If the United States abandons its unrealistic obsession with denuclearization and seeks genuine peaceful coexistence with us based on a recognition of reality, there is no reason we cannot stand face-to-face with the United States." This indicated North Korea's willingness to engage in talks with the U.S., on the premise of abandoning denuclearization.

Meanwhile, for the first time in seven years since 2018, North Korea has returned to the international stage by dispatching a high-ranking official to the high-level session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly.

Kim Sun Kyong, North Korea's Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, reiterated North Korea's stance against denuclearization during a speech at the general debate of the 80th UN General Assembly held at the UN headquarters in New York, stating, "We will never give up our nuclear weapons." However, he also emphasized, "We will continue to develop multifaceted exchanges and cooperation with countries that respect and treat our nation amicably," leaving open the possibility of resuming dialogue with the United States.
