Yangsan City Wins Excellence Award in the Regional Job Target Disclosure Category at the National Local Government Job Competition

Yangsan City in South Gyeongsang Province received the Excellence Award in the Regional Job Target Disclosure category at the "2025 National Local Government Job Competition" organized by the Ministry of Employment and Labor.

The "National Local Government Job Competition" is the most prestigious award in the field of employment, presented by the Ministry of Employment and Labor. It comprehensively evaluates the efforts and achievements of 243 local governments nationwide (17 metropolitan and 226 basic local governments) in creating local jobs.


Through this award, Yangsan City has demonstrated the effectiveness of its proactive employment policies implemented since the launch of the 8th popularly elected administration.


Under the employment vision of "a dynamic economic city rich in young talent and job opportunities," the city has continuously pursued region-specific job policies, focusing on two main strategies: fostering an economically vibrant city with abundant jobs and developing an innovative growth-oriented future industrial city.


As a result, compared to the 7th administration in 2021, the employment indicators for the 8th administration in 2024 have improved: the economic activity participation rate increased from 59.2% to 60.8%, the employment rate rose from 57.1% to 59.6%, and the unemployment rate dropped from 3.7% to 1.9%.


Additionally, Yangsan City achieved various accomplishments, including: being the only city or county with a population over 300,000 in South Gyeongsang Province to see an increase in the number of employed people in 2024; receiving an excellent evaluation from the Ministry of Employment and Labor for the "Youth Challenge Support Project," which provided tailored programs for young people who had given up on job seeking; and ranking first in the province for smart factory process rates.


In particular, in the Regional Job Target Disclosure system, Yangsan City created 33,101 jobs, surpassing its target of 27,712 jobs and achieving a 119.4% accomplishment rate, thereby contributing to revitalizing the local economy and boosting employment.


A city official stated, "This award is the result of collaboration between the public and private sectors to create local jobs," adding, "We will continue to expand high-quality jobs that citizens can truly feel, and further strengthen customized job policies that encompass youth, the middle-aged, and vulnerable groups."
