Holiday Gift Packages Delivered to 2,106 Single-Person Households
Seo-gu Honors in Gwangju held the 'Neighbor ON Day' event for single-person households on the 30th ahead of Chuseok, delivering sponsorship funds totaling approximately 63 million won.
According to the district office on the 30th, this event was organized to share warmth from the local community with single-person households who need care during the holiday season and to realize community-centered welfare.
Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seo-gu District Office in Gwangju, is taking a commemorative photo with attendees after the donation ceremony at the 'Eon On(on) Day Care Kit Production' sponsored by Seo-gu Honors, held in the first-floor lobby of Seo-gu District Office on the 30th. Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seo-gu District Office, along with 164 members of the Neighbor Care Group, attended the event. They personally assembled holiday gift packages worth 30,000 won, each containing nine items including Sikhye and Yakgwa. Afterwards, they visited 2,106 single-person households in the district, delivering the packages and checking in on their well-being, sharing warmth and care.
An elderly recipient of the package said, "Receiving a gift from someone during the holidays warms my heart. If this kind of kindness continues, even those living alone will be able to feel more at ease."
Mayor Kim Ikang stated, "This sharing went beyond simply providing goods; it was a meaningful time to share warmth among neighbors. We will continue to do our best to build a warm community where no one is left out."
Meanwhile, the district launched the high-value donor group 'Seo-gu Honors' in November last year in cooperation with the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea. To date, 96 members have donated a total of approximately 3.3 billion won.
Seo-gu Honors has been steadily advancing the '012 Partners' project to achieve 'Zero Welfare Gaps, Happy Seo-gu for 12 Months.' Starting with a project enabling multicultural families to visit their maternal relatives, the group has also supported scholarships for self-supporting youth and family caregivers, as well as 'rest support funds' for elderly waste collectors.
