[Prime Intellectual Property] "Patent Data Equals Technological Competitiveness: Build Your Business Strategy with Keywort"

Interview with Yoon Jungho, CEO of Wort Intelligence
Patent Data, Easily Searched and Analyzed
Identifying Technology Trends... Talent Discovery Made Possible

"Patent data is not just for a select group of experts like patent attorneys. We have introduced artificial intelligence (AI) search functions so that HR managers and R&D teams can also strategically utilize patent data."

[Prime Intellectual Property] "Patent Data Equals Technological Competitiveness: Build Your Business Strategy with Keywort" Yoon Jungho, CEO of Wort Intelligence, recently introduced his company's AI-based patent search service "Keywort" in an interview with Asia Economy.

Anyone can access patent information on the KIPRIS (Korea Intellectual Property Rights Information Service) website. However, quickly finding the data you want and analyzing its significance is not easy for everyone. This is because you need to understand and handle a vast amount of information, numerous technical terms, and complex search formulas.

Yoon Jungho, CEO of Wort Intelligence (pictured), recently said in an interview with Asia Economy, "We have lowered the entry barrier to patent data with AI-based natural language search," and added, "We aim to serve as a guide, helping companies develop strategies using patent data."

For over ten years, he has worked as a patent attorney in Korea and as a lawyer in the United States, continually considering how to increase the usability of vast patent data. Drawing on his experiences in the field, he founded Wort Intelligence in 2015 to develop technology that enables even beginners to effectively handle patent data.

Keywort, the company's flagship AI-based patent search service, is the main offering. Developed in-house after years of research and development, Keywort is available as an annual subscription and provides access to patent information from 106 countries worldwide.

Using Keywort, we searched for domestic and international patents filed by Samsung Electronics. The results not only showed that more than 15,000 patents are filed annually in Korea alone, but also provided intuitive visualizations, such as categorization by field (semiconductor, electronics, display, etc.) in tables, and even identified which inventors are primarily responsible for certain technologies.

In this way, Keywort is useful not only for corporate IP departments but also for HR managers. Patent specifications require listing the actual inventors of the technology, making it easy to identify key researchers and find the talent a company needs.

For example, if you want to analyze patent trends related to security technologies for USIM chips, you can use Keywort's AI search. The AI understands the user's intent and distinguishes between different types of USIM chip security technologies, such as "access control," "data protection algorithms," and "SIM card encryption."

Patent data contains a wealth of valuable information, including R&D direction, competitors' technology portfolios, and industry trends, allowing for insight into future technology paradigms. Yoon stated, "A cumulative total of about 3,000 companies, including Hyundai Motor Company, Doosan, Coupang, Kakao, and CJ, are using Wort Intelligence's services."

Last August, L&F, a company specializing in secondary batteries, signed an agreement with Wort Intelligence. By integrating AI patent analysis technology, the company plans to set more precise directions and accelerate R&D in the secondary battery field.

Yoon added, "Recently, we have been co-developing a patent-specialized AI model with LG AI Research Institute," and said, "We are continuing development to provide advanced AI services that enable sophisticated patent analysis and strategy formulation." He also commented, "I hope that the IP field will move beyond simply protecting intellectual property and become a tool for presenting technology strategies by industry and enhancing Korea's global competitiveness."
