Geumsan County Discusses Exchange and Cooperation
with Kayseri Metropolitan City and Its Districts in Turkey
Next year's Geumsan World Ginseng Festival will feature the participation of a Turkish folk dance troupe, creating an opportunity for cultural exchange.
On September 29, Geumsan County held discussions at the Embassy of Turkey in Korea, located in Jung-gu, Seoul, with Kayseri Metropolitan City and its affiliated districts to diversify and expand exchange and cooperation.
This meeting was organized as a follow-up to Turkish Ambassador to Korea Murat Tamer's invitation to the 43rd Geumsan World Ginseng Festival.
Seven representatives attended the meeting, including Memduh Buyukkilic, Mayor of Kayseri Metropolitan City, and Mustafa Yalcin, Mayor of Talas District. Among them, Talas District officially established a sister city relationship with Geumsan County in May.
From Geumsan County, ten people participated, including County Governor Park Beomin and Kim Kiyun, Chairman of the County Council.
During the meeting, the county proposed mutual cooperation measures across ginseng, tourism, and culture, and discussed holding a mini ginseng festival in Kayseri Province and Talas District, promoting Geumsan ginseng, and cooperation in fields such as education and agricultural technology.
Park Beomin, Governor of Geumsan County, said, "Kayseri Province is the economic and industrial center of central Turkey and will become an important bridgehead for the globalization strategy of Geumsan ginseng. I hope that this meeting will serve as an opportunity to further strengthen mutual cooperation across ginseng, tourism, and culture."
Mayor Memduh Buyukkilic said, "Kayseri is a city with vibrant trade and industry and has a very close relationship with Korea. We will actively cooperate in identifying local distributors interested in ginseng in the future."
District Mayor Mustafa Yalcin stated, "I regret that I was unable to attend last week's Geumsan World Ginseng Festival, but I will make sure to participate with a folk dance troupe at next year's festival. We are always willing to cooperate, and I hope that public-private exchange and cooperation will take place on a regular basis."
