Sponsor Invite to LPGA Tour Lotte Championship
Consistent Top-10 Finishes on KLPGA Tour This Year
Secures LPGA Tour Card for Next Year with a Win in Hawaii
'Assault Captain' Yumin Hwang is heading to Hawaii.
On October 1 (local time), she will compete in the LPGA Tour Lotte Championship (total prize money of 3 million dollars) at Hoakalei Country Club (par 72, 6,566 yards) in Ewa Beach, Oahu, Hawaii, United States. She was invited by her sponsor.
Yumin Hwang made her debut on the Korean Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour in 2023 and has already achieved two career wins, establishing herself as a skilled player. She is particularly known for her aggressive playstyle, which earned her the nickname 'Assault Captain.' After this season, she is aiming to advance to the United States. She plans to participate in the LPGA Tour Qualifying Series held at the end of the year.
She began preparing for her move to the U.S. stage this year. She competed in major tournaments such as the U.S. Women's Open (tied for 56th), the KPMG Women's PGA Championship (tied for 19th), and the Amundi Evian Championship (tied for 49th). She made the cut in all three events, demonstrating her potential to succeed on the LPGA Tour.
Yumin Hwang, who claimed one win each on the KLPGA Tour in 2023 and 2024, has not yet secured a victory this season. She has played in 17 tournaments this year, making the cut in 16 of them. She has finished second and third once each, and placed in the top 10 four times. She is currently ranked 21st on the money list with 405.92 million won in earnings.
If Yumin Hwang wins this tournament, she will earn a seed to play on the LPGA Tour next year. She is determined to achieve her dream by securing her first victory of the year in Hawaii.
