Famous Singaporean Influencer Sentenced to Curfew
Accused of Stealing Goods Worth 700,000 Won from Shopping Mall
Court Orders Electronic Tag and Nighttime Curfew
A well-known influencer in Singapore has been sentenced to a nighttime curfew after stealing goods worth hundreds of thousands of won from a shopping mall.
According to local media outlets such as The Straits Times on the 23rd, Singaporean influencer Jini Yamaguchi, 30, was found guilty of shoplifting and was ordered to wear an electronic tag that detects movement and to observe a nighttime curfew. As a result, Yamaguchi must remain indoors every day from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. for the next three months. Instead of imprisonment or a fine, this sentence also includes mandatory regular reporting to a supervision center and participation in counseling and rehabilitation programs.
The incident took place in August last year at Orchard Central shopping mall in downtown Singapore. According to the investigation, Yamaguchi and a friend placed items such as cosmetics and bags worth 628.90 Singapore dollars (approximately 680,000 won) in a cart and left the store without paying.
A store employee who witnessed the theft informed the manager, and the store reported the incident to the police, leading to their arrest. The pair's actions were also caught on the store's closed-circuit television (CCTV). Yamaguchi admitted to the crime in court last month, and it has been reported that she is also under investigation for allegedly stealing slippers, tumblers, and other items from other stores.
