Sisterhood Exchange Event with Daegu Suseong District Council
The Wando County Council in South Jeolla Province has strengthened cooperation between local councils through its sisterhood exchange with the Daegu Suseong District Council and supported the Gangneung region in Gangwon Province by providing bottled water, taking steps toward regional coexistence.
The council announced on the 30th that it had recently visited the Suseong District Council to hold a regular exchange event. This visit is part of a cooperative relationship that has continued for 33 years since the two councils formed a sisterhood in 1992. During the event, they discussed practical exchange measures, including sharing local issues, exchanging exemplary policy cases, and promoting agricultural and marine products.

From September 23 to 25, the council held a three-day training program in Sokcho, Gangwon Province, to enhance the legislative capacity of its members. During the training period, the council visited Gangneung City, which is suffering from drought, and delivered 6,000 bottles of 2-liter bottled water.
This support of bottled water was an expression of gratitude for the bottled water that residents of Nowha-eup in Wando received from Gangwon Province last year, and it is being evaluated as an opportunity to further solidify the meaning of solidarity between regions.
Considering the local economic downturn and the lives of county residents, the council previously suspended all overseas training programs and switched to domestic training. The budget saved is being used to give back to the local community, such as by supporting bottled water.
Kim Yanghun, Chairperson of the council, stated, "It is meaningful to share in the difficulties faced by the citizens of Gangneung and to contribute to the valuable relationship between our two regions," adding, "We will continue to practice legislative activities that share and engage with our residents."
