On September 29, Paik Kyung-hoon, Minister of Science and ICT, visited Gwanghwamun Post Office in Jongno-gu, Seoul to inspect the site where recovery efforts are underway following system disruptions caused by a fire at the National Information Resources Service. Minister Paik requested that every effort be made to ensure public services operate smoothly so that inconvenience to citizens is minimized ahead of the Chuseok holiday.

Minister Paik reviewed the progress of restoring financial and postal services at the post office and checked future response plans. He personally verified the normal operation of the delivery system (PDA) and automated teller machines (ATM) used by postal workers. He also inspected the status of financial and postal service counters to ensure that citizens were not experiencing any significant inconvenience.

Minister Paik expressed his gratitude to on-site staff, stating, "Thanks to your efforts, we have been able to continue providing services to the public even in the difficult situation of system recovery." He added, "With the Chuseok holiday approaching, I ask that everyone work together to minimize inconvenience for the public."

Previously, on September 26, a fire at the Daejeon National Information Resources Service caused partial paralysis of the post office's computer systems. The Ministry of Science and ICT and Korea Post operated a 24-hour recovery system over the weekend, fully restoring the financial system by 9 p.m. on September 28. Postal services are being handled by restarting the previous system, allowing for mail delivery, tracking, and parcel and international mail operations. Recovery work is ongoing for some post office services that remain affected.
