Hyundai Motor Company: "We Aim to Broaden Choices for Family-Oriented Consumers"
Hyundai Motor Company has announced the upcoming release of a new MPV as the successor to the Starex. Unlike the Staria, this model is designed as a traditional minivan, emphasizing a practical and rational approach.
From January to November 2024, the Carnival sold 75,513 units in South Korea, ranking second in domestic vehicle sales after the Sorento. In the domestic market, the nine-seater SUV model has established itself as a representative "family car." Its popularity especially increased after the launch of the facelift model last year, which also introduced a hybrid variant.
The upcoming Starex successor MPV from Hyundai Motor Company will feature a low body based on front-wheel drive and a spacious interior, offering a vehicle configuration similar to the Carnival. It will be equipped with the latest convenience and safety technologies, including second- and third-row seating, a panoramic curved display, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and other ADAS features. Ride comfort and noise issues are also expected to be improved.
In terms of price competitiveness, the main trim is expected to be priced around 30 to 35 million won. This is similar to or slightly lower than the starting price of the 2025 Carnival gasoline model, which is 35.51 million won. If LPG and hybrid models are added, the new MPV is expected to offer greater competitiveness for family consumers in terms of fuel efficiency and maintenance costs. The Starex successor model is expected to be released in South Korea in 2026.
