◆ Livestock Manure Resource Recycling: Achieving Both Environmental and Economic Goals

Bonghwa County presented a sustainable agricultural model through its case of "Realizing Eco-Friendly Circular Agriculture and Preventing Environmental Pollution through Livestock Manure Resource Recycling." The county was highly evaluated for jointly recycling manure from cattle, pigs, and chickens to reduce water pollution and odors, as well as for establishing a foundation for mutual prosperity between livestock farmers and local residents.

The county has achieved diverse results, including: ▲ establishing a joint livestock manure resource recycling facility with a daily capacity of 200 tons (total project cost: 24.4 billion won); ▲ producing 33 tons of biochar and 28 tons of solid fuel; ▲ signing an export contract for 8,000 tons (worth 1.56 billion won) with Vietnam's SITTO Group; and ▲ being selected in the third round of the national funding competition. These accomplishments present a vision for the future of eco-friendly agriculture.

◆ A Virtuous Cycle Created by Residents and Administration Together

This initiative is significant not only for improving the environment but also for contributing to farm income and revitalizing the local economy, establishing a virtuous cycle of cooperation among residents, farmers, administration, and the private sector.

Park Hyunkook, Mayor of Bonghwa County, stated, "This award is the result of proactive administration by public officials and the cooperation of county residents. We will continue to pursue innovative administration that residents can truly experience, striving for Bonghwa County to become a leading local government in eco-friendly and sustainable agriculture."

Bonghwa County's achievement is noteworthy as a strategic success that goes beyond administrative results to encompass the future and sustainability of local agriculture. In particular, by securing an overseas export contract and connecting local agriculture to the global stage, Bonghwa County's case is being recognized as a model that can be expanded to other local governments.
