National Fire Agency: "National Information Resources Service Fire Fully Extinguished After 22 Hours"

The National Fire Agency announced that the fire at the National Information Resources Service in Daejeon, which broke out at around 8:20 p.m. on the 26th, was completely extinguished at approximately 6:00 p.m. on the 27th, about 22 hours later.

Accordingly, the fire authorities disbanded the Central Emergency Rescue Control Team and transitioned to a situation response team.

The fire authorities placed the lithium-ion batteries, which ignited in the computer room, in a water tank for two to three days. They also reinforced safety measures to prevent any possible re-ignition.

As a result of the fire, one worker suffered first-degree burns to the face and arms. There was also property damage, including parts of the building and computer equipment being burned.

Relevant agencies, including the fire department and police, plan to conduct a joint inspection soon to investigate the exact cause of the fire and assess the extent of the damage.

The National Fire Agency is also carrying out restoration work to normalize the fire safety system.

Due to the fire, some multi-channel emergency reporting systems were affected, but for 119 text message reports, an emergency joint response system with 112 was activated and urgent measures were completed. Video and web reporting systems have also been restored without issue, and efforts will be made to minimize inconvenience to the public.

Kim Seungryong, Acting Commissioner of the National Fire Agency, stated, "We will do our utmost to support recovery efforts in cooperation with relevant agencies so that any inconvenience to the public caused by this fire can be resolved as quickly as possible."
