The Samseong-dong Volunteer Crime Prevention Unit in Yangsan City was selected as the "Best Crime Prevention Unit" for the second quarter of 2025 by the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency on September 25. The unit received a commemorative plaque and held a signboard unveiling ceremony, followed by a joint patrol activity.
The event, held at the Samseong-dong Volunteer Crime Prevention Outpost, was attended by local institution and organization leaders, city council members, and residents. Participants offered congratulations and pledged ongoing support and cooperation to strengthen community safety and public security.
The Samseong-dong Volunteer Crime Prevention Unit, consisting of around 30 members, was recognized for its consistent and diverse achievements in public safety. The unit maintains a cooperative relationship with the police, engages in crime prevention and youth guidance activities, conducts joint patrols with the foreign residents' volunteer crime prevention unit, and works to improve disaster-prone areas, all contributing to the safety of local residents.
Cho Sanghyeon, head of the Volunteer Crime Prevention Unit, stated, "Being selected as the Best Crime Prevention Unit is the result of the active volunteer work of all our members and the close cooperation with related institutions and organizations. We will continue to do our utmost for the development of the community and the safety of our residents."
Park Sundeok, head of Samseong-dong, expressed gratitude, saying, "I thank the Volunteer Crime Prevention Unit for their passionate efforts to protect residents' safety, often behind the scenes. I hope that next year, you will become the best crime prevention unit in the country."
