Muan County in South Jeolla Province has provided disaster relief funds in advance to residents affected by heavy rains in July and August, to help stabilize their livelihoods before the Chuseok holiday.

On September 26, Muan County announced that it had urgently allocated county funds and made advance payments to affected residents, prior to the confirmation of national and provincial government support.

The county quickly reflected this budget to provide practical assistance to residents facing financial difficulties ahead of the holiday.

Once national and provincial support is confirmed, the county plans to provide disaster relief funds to small business owners affected in July, and to gradually support residents affected in August with disaster relief funds, consolation payments, and disaster relief grants, continuing the recovery process.

Muan suffered damage to 108 homes, 202 small business facilities, and agricultural crops due to heavy rains in July and August. In particular, on August 3, a record hourly rainfall of 142.1 millimeters resulted in approximately 5.1 billion won in damages, leading to Muan-eup, Illo-eup, and Hyeongyeong-myeon being declared special disaster zones.

Kim San, the governor of Muan County, stated, "We provided disaster relief funds early so that affected residents could feel some relief ahead of the holiday," and added, "We will continue to do our best for recovery efforts and to prevent recurrence in the future."
