First Trial Scheduled for September 30 at Seoul Central District Court
Former Prime Minister Han Ducksoo, who is accused of aiding and abetting rebellion related to the emergency martial law on December 3rd, is attending the pre-arrest suspect interrogation (warrant review) held at the Seoul Central District Court in Seocho-gu, Seoul on the 27th of last month.
The Special Prosecutor's Office for Rebellion (Special Prosecutor Cho Eunseok) has requested the court to broadcast the first trial of former Prime Minister Han Ducksoo.
On the afternoon of September 26, the special prosecutor's team submitted a request to the Seoul Central District Court to broadcast the first hearing for former Prime Minister Han. The 33rd Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Court (Presiding Judge Lee Jinkwan) is scheduled to hold the first trial at 10 a.m. on September 30 for Han, who has been indicted on charges of aiding and abetting the ringleaders of rebellion, perjury, falsification and use of official documents, damage to official documents, and violation of the Presidential Records Management Act.
According to the Special Prosecutor Act on Rebellion, the first trial of a case prosecuted by the special prosecutor must be broadcast. However, the presiding judge may decide not to broadcast part of the trial if it is deemed that doing so could threaten national security, public order, or good morals.
On the same day, the court held the first trial for former President Yoon Sukyeol on charges including obstruction of official duties by special public officials and abuse of authority, and allowed the proceedings to be broadcast.
