Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province will issue a new paper-type Bucheon Love Gift Certificate starting in October.
This gift certificate has been introduced to create a virtuous cycle in the local economy through the revitalization of festivals and tourism, and to boost sales for small business owners.
Unlike the card-type Bucheon Pay, the paper-type gift certificate does not require a separate card issuance process, allowing visitors from other regions to conveniently receive and use the certificate.
The first issuance will take place at 'Bucheon Luminare,' a nighttime experience attraction set to open next month. A portion of the admission fee will be refunded to ticket purchasers in the form of the paper-type gift certificate, which can be used at Bucheon’s affiliated merchants, including traditional markets and neighborhood shopping districts.
Currently, there are about 1,200 affiliated merchants that accept the paper-type Bucheon Love Gift Certificate, and the city plans to continue expanding this network through additional recruitment so that both citizens and tourists can use it more conveniently. The list of affiliated merchants can be found on the Bucheon City website.
Bucheon Mayor Cho Yongik stated, “The issuance of the paper-type gift certificate will serve as a driving force for the virtuous cycle of the local economy, not only by revitalizing festivals and tourism but also by increasing sales for local businesses and promoting consumption. We will actively expand the program so that both citizens and tourists can fully experience the benefits of the local gift certificate.”
