Seoul Fireworks Festival D-1... Thorough Safety Management on the Day of the Event

Joint Safety Inspections Conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and Related Agencies

With just one day left until the Seoul International Fireworks Festival, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and related agencies are set to implement thorough safety management measures through the day of the event.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Seoul Metropolitan Government, Yeongdeungpo District Office, the police, and the fire department, will conduct pre-event inspections from September 26 to 27. These inspections will cover all aspects of safety management, including crowd control, situation monitoring, traffic management, and emergency response.

Now in its 21st year, the Seoul International Fireworks Festival attracts over one million visitors from both Korea and abroad. Large crowds are once again expected this year at major locations such as Yeouido Hangang Park, making thorough safety management essential to prevent crowd-related accidents.

Any risk factors identified during the safety inspections by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and related agencies will be addressed and rectified before the festival begins.

On the day of the festival, September 27, Kim Kwangyong, Director General of Disaster and Safety Management at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, will preside over an on-site safety measures review meeting. This meeting will serve as the final check for safety management strategies, including dispersing entry and exit points, deploying on-site safety personnel, managing crowds at subway stations, and transporting emergency patients.

After the meeting, Director General Kim will tour the festival site to closely inspect the installation of safety fences, the deployment of safety personnel, and the identification of potential bottleneck areas, while also encouraging on-site staff.

Director General Kim stated, "We will do our utmost to ensure that visitors can enjoy the festival and return home safely through meticulous on-site safety management," adding, "We also ask all citizens participating in the festival to actively cooperate with on-site guidance to maintain order."
