On September 26, Gwangju Dong-gu District announced that it will invite famous singers and DJs to present a variety of performances at the 22nd Gwangju Chungjang Festival of Memories, which will be held for five days starting from October 15.
Rather than spending a large budget to invite major singers, Dong-gu District plans to organize the festival with programs that highlight the theme of this year’s festival, "Fairy Tale," and emphasize the value of memories. The intention is to create a festival where citizens play a central role and can cherish their memories for a long time, rather than a one-off event focused solely on enjoying popular singers’ performances.
On the opening day, the opening show will feature the Kim Changwan Band, beloved nationwide for their numerous hit songs, trot queen Jang Yoonjeong, singer-songwriter Kim Kwangjin known for "Magic Castle," and Jung Yeo-jin, known for "Father’s Words," among others.
On the second day of the festival, October 16, designated as Asia Culture Day, a joint Korean-Japanese nine-member idol group will be invited to present an Asia Culture Show. On the third day, October 17, there will be a Gwangju Traffic Broadcasting performance, and DJs Hwanny, Crystal, South High, and Kaju Showtime will host a Friday Night Light-Up event. In addition, at the Chungjang Road Night event on the evening of October 18, DJ Subin, a former member of the popular idol group Dal Shabet, will take the stage to meet the audience.
Lim Taek, head of Dong-gu District, stated, "We have prepared a variety of performances, from stages featuring popular singers like Kim Changwan Band and Jang Yoonjeong to nostalgic night events. We ask for the enthusiastic interest and participation of citizens."
