Former CEO Kang Seunghyeop Moves to Shinsegae Construction
Hyeongseop Lim, who was in charge of B2B (business-to-business) at Shinsegae Food, was appointed as the new CEO of Shinsegae Food on September 26. The current CEO, Kang Seunghyeop, will move to become the CEO of Shinsegae Construction.
Born in 1970, the new CEO Lim graduated from Dongam High School in 1989 and majored in Korean Language Education at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. He joined Shinsegae in 1995, served as the store manager of Emart Changdong branch, and then held various positions at Shinsegae Food, including Executive Director of Purchasing, Executive Director of Purchasing and Logistics, Executive Director of Food Distribution Headquarters, and Executive Director in charge of B2B.
He has held the position of Executive Director in charge of B2B at Shinsegae Food since October last year. With this appointment, Lim has been promoted to CEO in just over a year and will now lead the company’s vision to transform into a specialized food B2B enterprise.
The outgoing CEO, Kang Seunghyeop, accelerated the restructuring of non-core businesses after being appointed as CEO in October last year, but has been replaced after just over a year. In the first half of this year, Shinsegae Food recorded sales of 730.1 billion won, a 5.9% decrease compared to the same period last year, while operating profit increased by 49.3% to 21.4 billion won.
