Jeonju City in North Jeolla Province will host the "2025 Jeonju World Inline Marathon" on November 1-2, with courses stretching from the former Jeonju Sports Complex to Jeonju World Cup Stadium and throughout the city.
According to the city on September 26, this year's event will mark its 20th anniversary and is expected to be the largest ever, with around 5,000 participants including inline skaters, officials, and enthusiasts from both Korea and abroad.
The event will feature a track competition, marathon, and slalom competition, offering high-level races and a variety of attractions. In particular, the marathon will see participation from several top-10 world-ranked athletes, and a range of categories will be available for everyone, including a 42km open division, a 21km masters division, and a 6km non-competitive course, allowing athletes, enthusiasts, and the general public to all enjoy the event.
All marathon participants will receive a 20th anniversary commemorative gift, a finisher's medal, and a certificate of completion, providing a unique opportunity to race alongside world-class athletes.
Notably, Jung Youngtaek, president of the Jeonbuk Roller Sports Federation, which is co-organizing the event, has announced a 10 million won prize for the winner of the men's 42km marathon, signaling fierce competition among athletes from Korea and abroad.
The day before the marathon, track events for preschoolers, elementary students, and adults will be held to foster young inline talent. In addition, an inline slalom competition commemorating the 20th anniversary of the event will debut at the Songcheon-dong Indoor Stadium.
Registration is open until October 17 through the official event website, and further details can be obtained by contacting the Jeonju World Inline Marathon Organizing Committee.
Jeon Seokjin, president of the Jeonju Roller Sports Federation and chairperson of this year's organizing committee, stated, "The Jeonju World Inline Marathon is the only event of its kind held in the heart of a city in Korea. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, it will be a festival where skaters from around the world and local citizens come together. We aim to further establish Jeonju as Korea's leading international inline city through safe and high-quality event management."
A city official added, "The Jeonju World Inline Marathon has received tremendous support every year, and for its 20th anniversary, it will be an even greater festival where more athletes and citizens can come together and celebrate."
