Giving Back What We Learned at School... Dong-Eui Institute of Technology Fire Safety Management Students Operate Fire Safety Experience Booth for Citizens

Students from the Department of Fire Safety Management at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology provided fire safety experience education to citizens at a local festival.

Dong-Eui Institute of Technology (President Kim Youngdo) announced on the 26th that students from the Department of Fire Safety Management (Department Head Byun Taeyoung) participated in the '2025 Busanjin-gu V-Vitality Recharge Festival' held at the Busan Student Education and Culture Center Plaza on the 20th, where they operated a fire safety experience booth.

This event, organized by the Busanjin-gu Volunteer Center, aimed to promote a culture of sharing within the community and raise public awareness of safety. The students contributed their expertise through talent donation, offering hands-on activities such as ▲ fire extinguisher usage training and ▲ virtual reality (VR) fire evacuation drills.

Participants learned initial fire response techniques by holding a fire extinguisher model and practicing the 'P.A.S.S. procedure' (Pull the safety pin, Aim the nozzle, Squeeze the handle, Sweep as if using a broom). During the VR experience, they entered a virtual fire scene with rising smoke, where they practiced checking emergency lights and moving in a low posture, experiencing real-life emergency response procedures firsthand.

Byun Taeyoung, head of the Department of Fire Safety Management, said, "I felt a great sense of fulfillment watching the children engage earnestly in the VR experience," and emphasized, "We will expand field-oriented education so that citizens can internalize safety through hands-on experience."

The Department of Fire Safety Management at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology focuses on training professionals with practical field skills and safety leadership through education in fire and evacuation simulation, safety management, and disaster response. The department continues to carry out volunteer and educational activities to strengthen the local community's safety network.
