Plans for Temporary Parking Lots and Shuttle Bus Operations
Haenam County in Jeollanam-do has formed a practical task force and is accelerating preparations to ensure the successful hosting of the 2025 LPGA BMW Ladies Championship.
On the 25th, the county established a practical task force led by the deputy governor and began developing measures for each sector, including transportation, safety, medical services, and publicity. The task force includes 14 county government departments, the police, fire department, Jeollanam-do Province, and the event agency.

The team plans to operate a comprehensive situation room during the tournament and set up on-site booths for medical and safety services, as well as promotional booths to showcase Haenam County’s tourism and specialty products. These booths will also provide visitor guidance, hygiene inspections, and support for volunteer activities.
In particular, the county is prioritizing traffic management measures in anticipation of large crowds expected on weekends, such as establishing temporary parking lots, operating shuttle buses, and implementing traffic controls. On the 18th, officials visited the planned tournament venue for an on-site inspection.
The county aims to leverage the tournament as more than just a sporting event, but also as an opportunity to promote the region. The promotional booths will include a kimchi exhibition, and the organizers are coordinating a kimchi-making experience event involving foreign players.
Additionally, Haenam County plans to offer local specialties such as Haenam sweet potato sticks and Sikhye free of charge to visitors to raise awareness of regional agricultural products.
The LPGA BMW Ladies Championship is the only regular LPGA Tour event held in Korea, and this is the first time it will take place in the Honam region. Seventy-eight top-ranked female professional golfers within the world’s top 70 will compete, and the tournament will be broadcast live to 570 million households in about 170 countries.
The county expects more than 700 athletes and staff to stay in Haenam during the tournament, with an anticipated 50,000 to 60,000 spectators. Accordingly, the county plans to establish a “kindness and safety response” system across all local services, including accommodations, restaurants, and transportation.
So far, approximately 830 people, including athletes and staff, have already booked accommodations in Haenam. The county has formed a countywide preparation committee and assigned dedicated public officials to support on-site responses at lodging facilities and restaurants.
Deputy Governor Son Myungdo stated, "This international golf tournament will elevate Haenam’s status and help boost the local economy," adding, "All departments will work together seamlessly to ensure thorough preparations."
