On September 24, Ansan City announced that it held a groundbreaking ceremony for the 'Gamgol Sports Ground Multi-purpose Facility Construction Project' to address parking shortages in the Sadong and Saidong areas and to expand cultural and sports infrastructure.
The multi-purpose facility, to be built at 1342 Sadong, will have a total floor area of 15,856 square meters. The basement level will feature an annexed parking lot with 143 spaces, while the ground level will provide community sports facilities such as an artificial turf soccer field and a jogging track.
A total of 20.7 billion won will be invested in the project, with construction scheduled to take 18 months and completion targeted for February 2027.
Lee Mingun, mayor of Ansan City, stated, "Once the multi-purpose facility is completed, local residents will be able to secure both parking and leisure spaces at the same time," adding, "We will ensure the project is carried out thoroughly so that it also contributes to enhancing the city's competitiveness."
