Goheung County to Launch "Local Love Railway Travel Package" on the 29th

50% Train Fare Discount and Up to 100,000 Won in Local Gift Certificates
Explore Local Attractions Including Ssukseom, Space Center, and Healing Forest

Goheung County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Gong Youngmin) is creating a tourist route in an area without a railway station. On September 25, the county announced that it will launch the "Local Love Railway Travel Package" on September 29, offering local currency and train fare discounts to travelers who arrive by train.

This package allows tourists visiting Goheung by train to receive a refund of up to 100,000 won in the form of a mobile "Goheung Love Gift Certificate" if they use accommodations, meals, and transportation according to certain requirements. In addition, if they visit at least one local attraction and verify their visit via QR code, they will receive a 50% discount coupon valid on all train lines, including KTX. The coupon can be used for one year from the date of issuance, making it attractive even for tourists from the Seoul metropolitan area.

The tourist attractions eligible for QR verification include the Buncheong Ceramics Museum, Goheung Ssukseom, Naro Space Center Space Science Museum, Geogeum Bridge, Space Astronomical Science Center, Space Launch Observatory, and Palyongsan Cypress Healing Forest-a total of seven locations. Tourists can travel to Goheung by renting a car or using the Goheung Tourist Taxi from Suncheon Station or Yeosu Expo Station.

In particular, the county will also link another yuzu-themed railway package, "Yuja C Heaven," to the Goheung Yuzu Festival, which opens on November 6. This package will support transportation costs for group tourists, and after the festival, additional railway-linked packages will be offered to match seasonal demand, such as during the autumn foliage season.

Previously, in August, the county signed a "Railway and Local Tourism Vitalization Business Agreement" with Korea Railroad Corporation and developed the package in collaboration with Korail’s South Jeolla Headquarters and a travel agency specializing in tourist trains.

A county official stated, "This railway travel package will not only provide convenience to tourists but also bring vitality to local shops and markets. We will do our best to make Goheung a place that visitors want to return to."
