Seven Institutions Including Korea Expressway Corporation and Korea Electric Power Technology Join
Revitalizing Traditional Markets and Expanding the Hometown Love Donation Program Expected
Gimcheon City and public institutions relocated to Gyeongbuk Innovation City have pledged mutual growth with the local community, sparking hope for the recovery of the local economy.
Korea Expressway Corporation and Six Other Organizations Participate in Gimcheon and Innovation City Public Institutions Win-Win Partnership to Revitalize the Local Economy
On September 24, Korea Expressway Corporation (President Ham Jingyu) announced that it had signed the "Gimcheon City-Public Institutions Win-Win Partnership Agreement" at Gimcheon City Hall with seven organizations, including Gimcheon City (Mayor Bae Nakho), Korea Electric Power Technology, Korea Transportation Safety Authority, Korea Rehabilitation Agency, Korea Legal Aid Corporation, Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency, and the National Seed Management Office.
This agreement is a follow-up measure to the "Plan to Revitalize Win-Win Consumption for Reviving Local Areas" announced by the government in August.
The aim is for Gimcheon City and public institutions to join forces to boost the local consumer economy and establish a foundation for the co-growth of Innovation City and the original downtown area.
In particular, Korea Expressway Corporation will hold the "Chuseok Traditional Market Visit" event with the Gimcheon Hwanggeum Market Merchants Association at its headquarters' second-floor lounge on October 1.
Hwanggeum Market, which continues the legacy of Gimcheonjang-one of the five major markets during the Joseon Dynasty-is expected to use this event to once again highlight the value of traditional markets nationwide.
The corporation also plans to encourage its employees to participate in Gimcheon City's Hometown Love Donation Program, allowing them to receive local specialty products as gifts along with tax deduction benefits. Through this initiative, the company aims to expand the virtuous cycle of local consumption and further boost economic revitalization.
Bae Sangjung, Director of Performance Innovation at Korea Expressway Corporation, stated, "Through a consumer base built together by the region and public institutions, we will contribute to the development and welfare of Gimcheon City."
This agreement goes beyond a simple event, as it structurally reconnects relocated public institutions with Gimcheon's original downtown and traditional markets. If win-win consumption takes root, Gimcheon could become a new model for the recovery of local commercial districts.
