Namdo International Food Industry Expo Offers a Feast of Gastronomic Events Namdo International Food Industry Expo 'Traditional Liquor Pairing'. Provided by Jeonnam Province

The Namdo International Food Industry Expo Secretariat announced that it has prepared a special program for the upcoming October expo, allowing domestic and international visitors to experience the flavors of Namdo on a deeper level.

In particular, the program combines Namdo’s traditional ingredients with alcoholic beverages from around the world and dishes crafted by world-class chefs, promising to captivate the senses of gourmet enthusiasts visiting Namdo.

On October 3 and 4, a small-scale premium wine seminar will be held at the Open Stage of the Gastronomy Culture Hall.

This unique program matches Namdo’s traditional sauces, fermented vinegars, and salt with wines from countries such as Italy, the United States, France, and Australia. Participation is limited to 30 people per session.

Rather than simply offering tastings, the program incorporates fermentation science, making it an educational experience expected to attract a wide range of participants, from wine beginners to aficionados.

On October 11 and 12, a traditional liquor pairing event will take place at the Gastronomy Event Zone.

This program, accommodating 100 participants per session, will feature carefully selected regional traditional liquors such as Goheung Yujaju, Gangjin Korean White, Mokpo Milmool Takju, Damyang Chuseongju, and Naju Nagwa, paired with seven different Namdo dishes. Attendees will be able to experience both the local character and creativity of Namdo, with sommeliers’ commentary and performance elements offering new ways to enjoy traditional liquors.

On October 17 and 18, a wine pairing program will be held at the Mokpo Gastronomy Culture Gallery Haegwan 1897. Up to 100 participants per session can enjoy a six-course meal made with local Namdo ingredients, paired with selected wines. Participants will experience the harmony of diverse wines and dishes in a single dinner. The experience will be further enhanced by a special chef’s event menu.

From October 17 to 19, the World Gastronomy Party will be held at Mokpo Haegwan 1897, featuring Chef VIRI, a traditional cuisine master from Asturias, Spain. The event will be held six times, showcasing authentic Spanish dishes using Namdo beans and seafood.

Chef VIRI has preserved Asturias’ culinary traditions for over 40 years and has been awarded the Michelin Green Star for sustainable gastronomy. He will reinterpret his signature dishes using fresh Namdo ingredients and share his culinary philosophy through talks and lectures with participants.

Additionally, on October 24 and 25, Chef Nishimura, the first in Fukuoka to receive a Michelin one-star rating, will visit Namdo. He will present unique dishes such as crab beefin and Mokpo fish consomm?, offering a new perspective on Namdo ingredients. This event is expected to serve as a platform for international culinary exchange with overseas chefs, rather than a simple tasting.

As these special programs have limited seating, participation is only available through advance reservation. Tickets can be purchased on the Ticketlink website.

By participating in various events, such as comment events on the expo’s official Instagram, visitors can win expo program admission tickets, gifticons, and other prizes.

Hong Yanghyun, head of the Namdo International Food Industry Expo Secretariat, stated, "These special programs embody the flavors and significance of Namdo as they reach out to the world. As seats are limited, we hope you take advantage of advance reservations to experience a unique culinary journey available only in Namdo."

The 2025 Namdo International Food Industry Expo will be held from October 1 to 26 at the Mokpo Culture and Arts Center. For more details, please visit the official website of the Namdo International Food Industry Expo.
