Deployed for Cushioning Material Replenishment... Verifying Efficiency and Safety
Joint Development of 'Physical AI Technology' with Robotis
CJ Logistics has become the first company in the domestic logistics industry to launch a field demonstration of artificial intelligence (AI) humanoid robots.
On the 25th, CJ Logistics announced that it had signed a 'Physical AI Technology Joint Development' agreement with Robotis, a robotics company, for the commercialization of humanoid robots in logistics sites. The signing ceremony, held on the 24th at the CJ Logistics headquarters in Jongno-gu, Seoul, was attended by key executives including Junghee Kim, Head of TES Logistics Technology Research Center at CJ Logistics, and Byungsu Kim, CEO of Robotis.

'Physical AI' refers to intelligence that enables AI to physically understand, perceive, and act in the real world, beyond just digital environments. CJ Logistics plans to develop AI software specialized for logistics operations to realize physical AI, and will identify humanoid robot application processes within logistics centers to lead field demonstrations and business feasibility verification.
Since September, CJ Logistics has been deploying Robotis humanoid robots at the Gunpo Fulfillment Center for field demonstrations. The robots are being used for replenishing cushioning materials on the product packaging line, with a focus on verifying operational efficiency and safety.
Robotis is responsible for developing and supplying the humanoid hardware, and will enhance its functions to ensure seamless integration with CJ Logistics' operating systems and AI software.

CJ Logistics plans to complete the demonstration project by the end of this year, and from next year, gradually deploy humanoid robots at major logistics centers to begin full-scale commercialization.
Junghee Kim, Head of TES Logistics Technology Research Center at CJ Logistics, stated, "This marks a turning point for the commercialization of humanoid robots in logistics. Ultimately, the commercialization of humanoid robots is a battle of data. We will systematically accumulate and analyze field operation data to lead a new logistics technology ecosystem centered on humanoids and AI."
