53% of Respondents Oppose Trump
Three out of four Americans believe that President Donald Trump does not deserve the Nobel Peace Prize.
According to a nationwide poll conducted by The Washington Post and polling firm Ipsos, which surveyed 2,513 American adults and was released on the 23rd (local time), 76% of Americans responded negatively to the idea of President Trump receiving the Nobel Peace Prize.
Only 22% of respondents said that President Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize. Notably, even among Republican supporters, opinions were evenly split, with 49% in favor and 49% against President Trump receiving the Nobel Peace Prize.
Among Democratic supporters, only 3% said President Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize. President Trump has recently expressed his desire to receive the Nobel Peace Prize publicly.
White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt also commented during a recent press briefing that President Trump has brokered a peace agreement or ceasefire roughly once a month, stating, "The time to give him the Nobel Peace Prize has already passed."
Previously, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during his visit to the White House, presented President Trump with a letter nominating him as a candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize.
The negative reaction among Americans regarding President Trump receiving the Nobel Peace Prize is related to his approval ratings. According to the poll, 53% of respondents said they oppose President Trump, while only 41% expressed support.
Among those critical of President Trump, 20% cited immigration policy as the biggest issue. Thirteen percent pointed to reciprocal tariff policies as a problem.
Nine percent said the destruction of democracy and the Constitution was the main issue, while another 9% responded that all of President Trump's policies were problematic.
However, among respondents who support President Trump, 55% rated immigration policy as his greatest achievement.
