Top Rankings in the 2025 University Internationalization Evaluation
The University of Seoul announced on September 27 that it ranked seventh overall in the '1st Korea Times Internationalization Excellence University Evaluation' organized by The Korea Times.
This evaluation was conducted among 54 universities nationwide, based on 22 indicators across four categories: education, research, student support, and alumni outcomes. The top 30 universities were selected as 'Internationalization Excellence Universities.'
The University of Seoul demonstrated balanced achievements in internationalization, ranking second nationwide in education, sixth in student support, thirteenth in alumni outcomes, and eighteenth in research.
In particular, the university ranked first in all three indicators within the education and student support categories: scholarship-to-tuition ratio, level of certification for internationalization competency in education, and the proportion of international students meeting language proficiency requirements. It also ranked fourth in the indicator for international student retention rate.
The Korea Times Internationalization Excellence University Evaluation was introduced to practically assess the level of internationalization at universities in response to the changing landscape of higher education in Korea, including declining birth rates, a decrease in the school-age population, and an increase in international students.
Won Yonggeol, President of the University of Seoul, stated, "Going forward, we will focus even more on expanding our multinational student community and strengthening global research collaboration, so that we can provide meaningful support and diverse learning opportunities to international students coming to Korea."
