This associate stated, "It was inappropriate for her to hug her boss at the concert, but Byron, as her superior, took full responsibility." However, the associate also argued, "That does not mean Christine deserves to be caught up in an affair scandal, lose her reputation, and lose her job. That would be unfair." The associate further emphasized that it was wrong for Christine to be labeled a "homewrecker," and revealed that at the time, her then-husband Andrew was also attending the concert with another date.

The associate continued, explaining that Christine and her husband were already separated when she attended the concert, and they began divorce proceedings a month later. The two reportedly remained amicable throughout the divorce process.
