According to the city on September 24, this year’s festival slogan is “Infinite Possibilities, The Future of Cinema,” reflecting the festival’s commitment to exploring new possibilities in film through the potential and experimental spirit of short films.

This year, 48 films from 16 countries were carefully selected from 4,742 submissions across 116 countries and will be screened during the festival. The competition sections are divided into International Competition (17 films), Korean Competition (11 films), and Jeonbuk Competition (8 films). A variety of programs are also prepared, including the “Four Seasons Section” and special director showcases.

In particular, the “Four Seasons Section” will feature award-winning works from the Jeonbuk Youth Film Festival and the Jeonju Family Film Festival, as well as local short films. As a special section, films supported by the Jeonju Film Commission will also be screened.

The opening ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. on September 25 at CGV Jeonju Gosa. Actors Kim Hyunjin and Han Seungyeon will host the event, with a celebratory performance by soprano Lee Hana. The opening films are “Table of Day and Night” directed by Kim Jongseon, “SAVERIO” directed by Ellen Ancui, and “Double Parking” directed by Jung Heon.

During the festival, a regional film symposium will be held at the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Jeonbuk National University. CGV Jeonju Gosa will also host audience Q&A sessions (GV) and group screenings for youth, among various citizen participation programs. The “Monologue Stars of Jeonju” competition, which invites and awards monologue videos under one minute, will spotlight emerging actors’ potential.

The awards ceremony will take place at 7 p.m. on September 28 in Theater 5 at CGV Jeonju Gosa. Winners will be announced for the Monologue Competition, as well as for the International, Korean, and Jeonbuk Competition sections.

The Jeonju International Short Film Festival aims to continue establishing itself as a hub for short films both domestically and internationally, while remaining a film festival that citizens can enjoy together.

Kwak Hyomin, Executive Committee Chair of the Jeonju International Short Film Festival, stated, “This year’s festival highlights the infinite possibilities of short films and the creative capabilities of regional filmmakers. With a diverse range of programs involving the audience, we will offer a unique experience that can only be found in Jeonju.”

No Eunyeong, Director of Culture, Sports and Tourism at Jeonju City, said, “I hope the Jeonju International Short Film Festival will bring new inspiration and emotion to citizens. We will continue to strengthen Jeonju’s cultural foundation as a city of film.”
