Busan Metropolitan Corporation's Resident-Led 'Happy Village Living Lab Support Project' in Full Swing

Resident-Planned Popup Store at Mangmi Happy Village in Suyeong-gu

Busan Metropolitan Corporation (BMC, President Shin Changho) and Busan Metropolitan City announced on the 23rd that resident-led, customized village programs are being actively operated through the '2025 Happy Village Living Lab Support Project.'

The 'Happy Village Living Lab Support Project' is a participatory and collaborative urban regeneration program in which residents identify issues in their village, and work together with professional organizations to find solutions.

Mangmi Happy Village in Suyeong-gu, one of the five target areas for this year, is currently running a resident-led program to revitalize the local economy. After completing training as sellers, residents directly participate as vendors, showcasing a wide variety of products such as handmade foods, clothing and accessories, daily necessities, and agricultural and marine products at popup stores within the market.

This program goes beyond simple consumption and sales; residents directly plan the brand, promote the village image, and contribute to the recovery of the local commercial district.

A popup store event under the concept of 'Mangmi Eonnine Direct from the Source' was held at Mangmi General Market on the 20th. Residents took the lead in every stage, from product planning and direct sourcing to space design, promotion, and sales.

Shin Changho, President of Busan Metropolitan Corporation, stated, "Residents gaining firsthand experience in revitalizing the local economy is a crucial process for developing a self-reliant community," adding, "We will continue to expand Living Lab projects that empower residents to lead local change."
