Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association (Chairman Lim Chaecheong) announced on the 24th that it will deliver a total of approximately 27,000 temporary relief kits to 16 metropolitan governments nationwide to minimize the inconvenience of evacuees in the event of a disaster.
The temporary relief kit is an emergency supply package produced and distributed to minimize inconvenience for residents during 1-2 day evacuations, as "pre-evacuation" has become more frequent due to extreme weather. This project is recommended by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety as a key policy initiative for 2025 to local governments or relief support organizations.
Unlike the emergency relief set, which is provided for evacuations lasting five days or longer, the temporary relief kit is smaller in size and less expensive to produce, allowing it to be pre-stocked at the township, town, and neighborhood level for immediate use in the event of a disaster. The kit consists of 17 items in total, including hygiene products such as toiletries, a blanket, a mask, and an inflatable pillow.
The temporary relief kit is focused on hygiene and health to minimize both the inconvenience and the risk of infectious disease for evacuees within the first 48 hours of a disaster, serving as the "first safety net" to protect evacuees' prevention and safety. Accordingly, Hope Bridge is taking the lead in establishing a more robust safety net by directly producing and distributing these kits through public-private cooperation.
On the 23rd, Hope Bridge visited the Gyeongsangbuk-do Provincial Government in Andong City and delivered 3,500 temporary relief kits. In the case of Gyeongsangbuk-do, most of its own stock had been depleted due to large-scale wildfires in March, creating a need for additional support.
Kim Hakhong, Vice Governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do, said, "Hope Bridge is always the first to reach out whenever a disaster occurs. We are grateful that, with this support, Gyeongsangbuk-do will be able to respond quickly to any future disasters."
Shin Hoon, Secretary General of Hope Bridge, stated, "It is important to quickly distribute temporary relief kits so that residents can evacuate safely during disasters. We will continue to expand distribution in cooperation with the government and local authorities."
