The Ministry of Health and Welfare comprehensively evaluated cities, counties, and districts nationwide on their performance in operating senior employment projects, senior satisfaction, participant safety management, and the discovery of innovative job models. As a result, it selected 14 local governments across the country as outstanding institutions (2 grand prizes, 6 excellence awards, and 6 merit awards).
Wonju City was honored to receive the excellence award alongside Namdong District and Yeonsu District in Incheon. The main implementing organizations for Wonju’s senior employment projects, the Wonju Senior Club and the Wonju Senior Welfare Center, also received the Minister of Health and Welfare Award, further highlighting Wonju’s policy capabilities for senior employment at the national level.
The Wonju Senior Club received the "Group 1 Best A Grade," securing the minister’s award and an incentive of 25 million won. The Wonju Senior Welfare Center also achieved the "Group 2 Best S Grade," receiving the minister’s award and an incentive of 25 million won.
Based on this achievement, the expansion and qualitative improvement of Wonju’s senior employment projects are expected to gain further momentum.
Mayor Won Gangsoo stated, "This award is the result of the active participation of our seniors and the dedicated efforts of those working in the field. We will continue to discover and expand high-quality job opportunities tailored to seniors, supporting a healthy and vibrant later life."
