Hana Bank announced on the 24th that it has opened a branch in Wroclaw, Poland, recognizing the growth potential of the Polish market, and will begin full-scale operations across Europe.

The opening ceremony on the 23rd (local time) was attended by Junyeol Tae, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Poland, and Hosung Lee, CEO of Hana Bank. In addition, Jangha Lee, head of LG Energy Solution Corporation, as well as representatives from Hyundai Rotem, SK IE Technology, and Hyundai Motor Company (Czech Republic), were present.

With this new branch, Hana Bank has established a business network covering major regions throughout Europe, including its existing bases in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Hungary, and the Czech Republic. The bank plans to further expand its operations in Central and Eastern Europe by leveraging synergies with its London branch, which oversees European operations, and its German subsidiary.

Poland, located in the heart of Europe, serves as an economic and logistics hub connecting Central and Eastern Europe with Western Europe. With a domestic market of approximately 40 million people and stable growth, it is considered to offer an investment-friendly environment. Furthermore, Poland is emerging as a forward base for postwar reconstruction projects in Ukraine, making it possible for Hana Bank to provide a wide range of financial services, including foreign exchange, retail, and corporate banking, which are among its core strengths.

In addition, Wroclaw is home to many Korean companies related to secondary batteries, including LG Energy Solution Corporation. Its proximity to the borders of the Czech Republic and Germany ensures excellent logistics infrastructure, and it is also close to Katowice, a major automotive parts production base, resulting in strong local demand for financial services. Its accessibility to Warsaw is also favorable, which is expected to help establish a foundation for transactions with construction and defense companies.

Previously, on the 22nd (local time), Hana Bank signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with PKO Bank Polski, the largest commercial bank in Poland in terms of assets and market share, to expand its global business. The agreement includes mutual support for overseas branches, cooperation in investment banking, trade finance, and correspondent banking services. Through this MOU, both banks plan to broaden the scope of their strategic cooperation to pursue various global business initiatives.

Hosung Lee, CEO of Hana Bank, stated, "It is very meaningful for us to become the first Korean bank to open a branch in Wroclaw, Poland, which boasts the largest economy in Eastern Europe. We will serve as a reliable partner for Korean companies that have entered or are preparing to enter Poland, and contribute to the revitalization of the local financial market."

Meanwhile, Hana Financial Group also expanded its business in the North American market by opening the 'Hana Bank USA LA Branch' in Los Angeles, California, in August. Hana Financial Group is pursuing a customer-centric management strategy tailored to local markets, going beyond simply expanding physical channels, and continues to lead the global financial market by expanding its network in major regions around the world.
