Will the "Cho Hee-dae Meeting Allegation" Be Clarified? Police Assign Case to Seoul Public Crime Investigation Unit

Will the "Cho Hee-dae Meeting Allegation" Be Clarified? Police Assign Case to Seoul Public Crime Investigation Unit Yonhap News Agency

On September 23, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Public Crime Investigation Unit was assigned a defamation case involving Democratic Party lawmakers Seo Youngkyo and Boo Seungchan, among others, who were accused of spreading false information.

The two lawmakers and others alleged that, following the Constitutional Court's impeachment ruling against former President Yoon Suk-yeol, Chief Justice Cho met with former Prime Minister Han to discuss the election law case involving President Lee Jaemyung. However, both Chief Justice Cho and former Prime Minister Han have denied these claims. Jeong Sangmyung, former Prosecutor General, who was also mentioned in the so-called "four-person meeting" theory, stated, "I do not even know them."

In response, civic groups such as the People's Livelihood Countermeasures Committee filed complaints, arguing that the two lawmakers "spread false information."

The police plan to summon the complainants soon to investigate the grounds for the complaint. The facts of the case are also expected to be clarified in the future.
