This year’s World Festival is especially significant as it marks the first year Gimpo City has been designated as an Intercultural City by the Council of Europe. The event will be held under the theme of "A Journey Around the World," aiming to create a stage for unity where locals and people from diverse cultural backgrounds come together and enjoy as if they are experiencing different parts of the globe.

In line with this theme, the festival will feature booths where attendees can try on traditional costumes, play musical instruments, and experience games from around the world, as well as sample global foods and beverages. The busking stage will showcase performances such as traditional Myanmar dance, a Taekwondo demonstration, and magic shows. In particular, the Indian Holi Festival (natural powder dyeing) and the air bounce experience are expected to be especially popular among children.

Additionally, a special stage ceremony will begin at 4 p.m., hosted by broadcaster Nam Heeseok, and will include a variety of concerts. The first part will feature a total of eight teams, including an Indian traditional performance, Spanish flamenco dance, a Middle Eastern "Aladdin" musical, Chinese Kung Fu Panda action, and a dynamic Korean K-POP dance performance. The second part will conclude with a German singer Romina's trot performance and a rock music performance by "SNCO," a rock band from the Eighth United States Army.

As of the end of August this year, among Gimpo City's population of 510,750, there are 26,129 registered foreign residents, accounting for 5.1% of the total and representing an increase of about 6.3% compared to the same period last year. Gimpo City is implementing a variety of customized support policies for foreign residents and, with its designation as an Intercultural City by the Council of Europe, plans to further develop as an inclusive and cooperative global city.
